Do you feel less than average?

No, I most definitely do not mean the size of your arms, legs, chest, or dick!

I'm talking about the average number of matches you get in a year's time.

I have a friend who travels frequently - all around the United States. He has dozens of matches each year.
We get together every few months for lunch so I can hear all about his latest opponents and the details of his matches.

I travel rather infrequently these days and so naturally I don't have nearly as many stories to share with him when we meet.

This leaves me wondering...."What is the average number of opponents you have over the course of a year?"
I presume most of us would prefer more.

Also, "What would an appropriate number be to satisfy your fight instincts?"

I've been out of wrestling a little over two years due to surgery and covid but prior to that, an average count of meets per year was about 10-12 sometimes more. What made that possible was owning a ring and being able to have access to it almost at any given time of day. Fortunately my husband and I sold the ring to a buddy who maintains it at the same location in Southern California and we still get to use it. B. Bruiser

My annual average is 2. I used to want to wrestle every weekend if I could, but I feel like my interest is waning of late. Frankly, it takes too much work to coordinate meetings.

I have the opportunity to have a lot in the year, but I prefer matches that are fun and intense. And of course memorable. So I'm fine with having less. I care about the quality. That's just me though.

Zero is my average, so you can't really get lower than that.

I think we can all agree with Sparrhawk's comment that "...it takes too much work to coordinate meetings." Though I'd probably argue that this is as much a factor of type and match preference as it is things like logistics and having a place to battle. Pure submission matches and competitive bouts have no need to be done discretely in hotel rooms.

You're both right; as the site seems to becoming more of a dating app than an activity site. I understand that everyone has their preferences but now it's getting down to bi vs straight vs gay. Then single vs married. It use to be so simple like a pick-up game of basketball. When meets happened so regularly, it was easy to compete with up to 8-10 people over a weekend. Covid put a halt to that.

Pre-COVID, I probably averaged about 2 - 3 matches a year. Which I consider to be pathetic and nowhere near as many as I'd like.

Ideally, I'd like to wrestle every couple of weeks, with mostly new opponents. (Dream on, right? LOL)

I like a bit of a gap in between matches to recuperate and also to get geared up for the next one. Essentially it's an itch that builds up and needs to be scratched every so often. The idea of going to a gathering to wrestle as many guys as possible over a weekend doesn't appeal to me, any more than scratching an itch for a solid day would. Too much of a good thing all at once.

My matches all took place years (decades) ago, long before I even joined this site.
I would settle for a regular bud and/or a coach - but most don’t want to engage an opponent that lacks training or their desired level of “appeal”.
