Rocket's rant and rage
Getting started
What do think is the best way to learn to boxing.
Should someone first learn to throw a hit. Should taking a hit be better, or some sort of delight balence of the two..
Learning give or take a punch which is first.
Yes somehow I think learning to take a blow best however that may be my passive nature.

Tough to find someone to just do beginning sparring with - not in a gym.
Backyard boxing might be a start. Rope in some friends.
Never fight anyone that you can’t trust NOT to hurt you.
Never spar with anyone way taller than you are OR if they are drunk.
Always wear gloves - hands take a long time to heal.
Stay away from anyone 20 years younger than you, too!

04/10/2017 09:16I had some lessons in Boxing many years ago from a professional. He was working in a gym in Cardiff. He saw me visit and one day just threw me a pair of gloves and told me nicely to put them on. He just called instructions and I obeyed them. If he called 1 then I jabbed with me left hand. Other instructions followed later. It all can to an end when a sparring session with him ended with a broken rib when a shot from him landed perfectly.
But the great thing about all this is that I can say that I trained as a boxer with a professional and that he ended my carrer by breaking a rib.
I doubt this helps you making your decision but it was fun

True.. I would like to have to train with. I probably would like the formal aspects of boxing but the fighting to me is something closer to what I am looking for.. After all I am not getting younger.
