I think that is a completely valid tactic. Even if you do not directly or indirectly get a submission out of it, the body triangle is harder to escape than a regular guard!
Do any here use the body triangle either as a submission or to set up chokes when the opponent is distracted from the discomfort of a good body triangle and fails to adequately defend his neck?

Yes I do. Being a lighter guy I often have to fight off my back. I need to work on my attacks

I agree as it is usually very tight. Although what about those of u that use the scorpion rib crush from your guard?
