This is a very short blog to help anyone who is new to understand the basic roles in pro-style wrestling:

Babyface (often shortened to face): The "hero" of each match like a protagonist in a film or book (think Superman, James Bond etc etc). Often comes out on top in either one off matches or in the long run. They can be any age and having an actual baby face is not required.

Tweener: A wrestler whose characteristics put them in neither category. They may be a popular wrestler who is usually on the side of the good but often pushes their luck or cheats on occasion.

Heel: The villain of the match or story. Think antagonist in a film or book (Lex Luthor or Goldfinger). Usually loses in the long run but will often win one off matches during the "build".

Jobber: Often development talent. They are there to make someone look good and lose the match, either in a quick squash or to put someone else over in convincing fashion. A jobber can be a heel or a babyface.
