I have always loved oil wrestling over the years. I am surprised that there aren't more wrestlers into it but do understand certain limitations of the encounter. I really prefer baby oil and mineral oil the best. Baby oil is great but as someone already pointed out, make sure you keep it out of your eyes. With baby oil, I don't believe in using it above the neck, Mineral oil is great too and like baby oil, it lasts for quite some time. I also enjoy olive oil and coconut oil too and it is usually quite tasty, the scent can linger a bit and make sure you use a disposable tarp to wrestle on. I am not much of fan of vegetable oil and have used it when I was trying to be spontaneous and didn't have anything else. I have even wrestled a few times in motor oil too, which is very heavy and required a long shower afterwards, outdoors.
I buy plastic sheeting throw away after matches OR heavy duty and then take outside brush down and wash off! Like canola oil stays slippery and doesn't taste bad!
have wrestled using both baby and canola oil and both are great however if you get a little in the eyes or mouth canola oil doesn't sting and the taste isn't bad
Back into oil after two decades... looks like baby oil still rules.
I had a regular opponent back in the day and we tried everything. I've tried coconut oil, and it works great. Also vegetable oil and butter and... believe it or not, evaporated milk.
He and I also tried a Japanese massage lotion - it comes in large bottles - you see it in the adult movies, usually girl on girl or girl on guy. Washes off easily.
Only problem with olive oil is the SMELL and it stains your gear if u wear any! I have had much success with canola oil..because try as I might..SOME ALWAYS GETS INTO MY MOUTH..lol..and taste is not bad..APPLY ONCE..and good for a few matches!
I have used both unscented baby oil and olive oil. I find the best way is to apply olive oil, a little thicker than baby oil and if more oil need to apply baby oil, it does give a good shine to your body.
Only used baby oil so far. It does the job. The down side is you have to be sure not to touch your eyes as it stings like mad! It does not leave you smelling & comes off easily in the shower. Yet to try veggie oil. It might be even more sensuous. At the massage classes I attended they used grape seed oil. That is not smelly either & because there were no showers we used to just get dressed & go home after as it soaks into the skin. So for wrestling might need to keep applying it.

I think the main problem is, that you need things like a tarp and a certain amount of space. that might be holding people back...

try olive oil - good for the skin and doesn't need to be reapplied during the match and makes it easier to shoot when the time cums!!
