I have taken many blows in the stomach for " real" , both in martial arts training or just getting suckerpunched from friends or getting hit in a fight.
I do not believe that this post was intended to talk about those who have set up gut punching sessions for mutual play, tests of strength, or the usual. This post was intended to talk about situations that were not planned. A real-life situation in which you were punched in the stomach in a fight or some other altercation that was NOT planned.
When I was playing football I got hit many times in the stomach, and that hurts a lot specially if you have to run, or the football in the solar plexus makes me gasping
My very first instance of real, unplanned gut punching was a local bully who I shared a bus stop with. I accidentally made him mad so he slugged me over and over the entire bus ride home. Then when we got off the bus, he waited until the bus was gone and he continued slugging me outside his house. I miss that, looking back lol

In fact I have found all of my partners have gone out of their way with caution and cooperation to make it a fantastic session for both of us (my internal fear has always been me not knowing when or wanting to say uncle when I physically need to). A year after I started lessons I finally got a opponent who ‘got it’ . He was already more skilled but I let him in for a few perfect guy blows.

I have had a couple on this site, my best of the two was a session that started off with me taking almost 1000 punches to warm up. We then went to a bit of trading using cards, highest number wins and the card dictating the punishment, such as knees and elbows to the gut, sit ups while being punched etc. The one who looses at the end of a pack got a minute of intense work over. We got through 3 decks I think.

I have and it depends on where on your abs you are punched, the intensity, the number and duration of the punches, and whether it is bare fist or MMA syle gloves or boxing gloves. Boxing gloves cushion the punches and allows long duration and intensity before you are worn down. MMA style hurt more and bare fists hurt the most for a given intensity and duration. Also, the degree of muscle damage and bruising goes up for each reduction in fist padding. With intense bruising the tenderness can last for many days. Yes indeed.. I never got into that type of experience before nor will I ever, lucky his punches where focused on my navel but that after pain was more then I want. Thanks for pointing out how one needs to be safe and not stupid.

I have and it depends on where on your abs you are punched, the intensity, the number and duration of the punches, and whether it is bare fist or MMA syle gloves or boxing gloves. Boxing gloves cushion the punches and allows long duration and intensity before you are worn down. MMA style hurt more and bare fists hurt the most for a given intensity and duration. Also, the degree of muscle damage and bruising goes up for each reduction in fist padding. With intense bruising the tenderness can last for many days. yes i have had a man tell me that by the look in my eyes after each punch I was getting weaker and it was just a matter of time. I've been punched long and hard enough to start screaming from the punches . what is really in my bucket list is to stand toe to toe with another dude and trade punches until the weaker man surrenders. 01/11/2015 16:31would love to hear about guys who have been stomach punched for real or witnessed real fights where a guy was slammed. Personally , I had two fistfights while in the army. The first was during basic training where i got into a fistfight in the barracks much to the delight of several other trainees . I fought a little mexican dude who i thought i could take but he beat me black and blue and bloody. He punched me so many times in the midsection I went potty in my pants for real. It took forever for some guys to pull him off of me. The second real gutpunch i got was in the barracks shower. Me and another soldier had the day off and i was shaving when he came in butt naked . My eyes flew to the sight of his dangling balls . He didnt like it and said something and i said something and the next think I know is we were in each others face. Although he was bigger, I decided I was going to take a swing at him . He ducked and pulled his arm back and threw a uppercut right into my solar plexus that knocked me down on my side. I didnt get up for about 10 min it hurt so bad. Back then fist fighters were gentlemen so he politely asked me if i wanted more ass whipping to which i politely declined. He then helped me up and back to my room and we became friends after that :)
