It"s important to protect your hands. Boxing gloves are not so much about protecting the body of the opponent as protecting the small bones of your hands. Old time bareknuckle fighters had appalling damage done to their hands on top of the appalling damage done to faces and brains... so while a barefist crunching into the flexed abs or pecs of a bare bodied opponent is something, taking care of your hands is a long time investment guys...
that is true, I am making a general point only, In the heat of action the puncher may get careless and hit ribs or hip bones. Or the receiver may move.
My lower abdominal muscles are very hard, from years if being hit in the low gut. Its hard to hurt me below the navel, but after many hard punches as i break down. The hard punches make me flow like a river. A real turn in for me. I seem to be harder there than most if my friends.
Yep - tape can be way hot. Some of my fighters tape up their knuckles before they start popping me in the chin, and it feels good and looks awesome on video.
Definitely. It also feels best if the puncher will let me feel some anger in the punch or at least some sadism where he tells me that he can tell when it is really hurting me.
work the same spot–midway between the navel and the pubs–over and over while putting trasht talk on the dude. In a short time you will softgut him, and then you can sink DEEP into the guts. Keep it up–no mercy–untile he shoots. Then hold him up or against the ropes and finish the job!
Well physiologically speaking it is feasible. Your vagus nerve, which runs directly from the brain, down through the neck and terminates as it were in your belly. It controls heart rythm, breathing and aspects of digestion. A vagal occlusion can cause heart fibrillation. It certainly restricts breathing temporarily, as the vagus nerve controls not only the regulation of the heart but the diaphragm as well. However it differs from individual to individual. Some are more susceptible than others. We can all relate to that punch to the liver, that leaves you gasping on the floor. Preparation training as used by boxers, mma guys, and the traditional oriental martial arts, does go a long way to prevent it's regular occurance.
Very possibly the most intelligent comment on this entire site and about the last word on the subject.
I have myself received several hits on my abdomen in and around the solar plexus in various stages of full flex. Some hut more than others, and a couple caused a TKO in that I was "unable to continue" but my only KO in a fight was a "king hit" [un-expected punch] from a complete stranger in bar for no reason known to me then or now 36 years later!
I to got totally suckerpunched by an ex's ex boyfriend. Was in a bowling alley. Felt a tap on shoulder turned and next thing i remember was on ground seeing stars and out of breath. Almost passed outbni guess. He took of. Took days to recover. Sick feeling
feel free to elaborate on that. how did the punch affect you?
we call king hits 'sucker punches'
being hit in the stomach is probably the most pain I have ever had (except when I fouched a hot lawnmower muffler :) the punch I got during a real fistfight hurt so much I thought I was dying. the latest one which caused me to black out hurt just as much. I swore I would not do any gp ever again but now I want to experiment with harder punches to the solar .
While it sounds hot, I think the idea of passing out from a body punch is pure fantasy. If you search youtube for boxing videos of body shot knock outs they are all TKO, never an actual KO where the guy passes out. If you can find an actual proper knock out from a body punch, feel free to post the link here, but I don't think you will find one.
Making a guy pass out from body work is usually a combination of working the gut area low and deep along with some hot trasht talk. The punches take care of the body and the talk fucks up the mind!
all the years I have been into gp I finally took a blow unflexed unintentionally. I signaled the guy punching me for a break and I relaxed and turned to walk away and he hit me in the solar . Immediate and real pain and I got dizzy and started blacking out. I was able to lay down and rest it out but am curious if anyone has blacked out and how long did it last? I know breathing continues while youre out but it was still scary .

Very true, but I don’t think a punch to the solar plexus poses much risk to the fist, does it?

10/7/2015 05:32it is very hard to actually connect to the solar plexus. if you do it is a ko though, the hit guy going down fast and hard.

They have to be fairly light punches but a lot of them and the guy has to try to relax his gut when he's hard.

Agree barefist is the best, but gloves for lifting weights, (thin!) leather-type can be hot, too.
