It is possible to break the spine from a gut punch, but it has to be delivered in a certain way.
I read above about someone cutting short a session after they were winded and 'dry heaven'. I don't understand why the would end the session due to this, this is what happens when your punched in gut, that's the feeling I get at the start of a session and after the punches brings me past it and the drifting off as I feeling his fist going in past that point is the release its all about to me.
I've had this happen to me a couple times, it's interesting.
The pain is...different. It feels different than just a deep punch, it's almost like a dull but piercing pain that radiates throughout the entire torso.
It happened to me the first time because I was completely 100% relaxed because I though the puncher was done. He sucker punched me so hard and deep that his wrist disappeared (if you look at my profile picture you can understand how impressive that is). I immediately felt all the air rush out of my body and I could feel myself want to vomit, but I had an empty stomach so I ended up falling over and dry-heaving for several minutes. I cut the session short after that, I was actually afraid I might have been seriously hurt!
That sounds like it might had been a real hot moment for the puncher, possibly even for you until the pain rolled in. I do hope you weren't injured. The spine is a very delicate and complex part of our body and links a lot of our nervous system to our limbs. I transport patients who have had lumbars and I can see how delicate the surgery can be on the spine when something is wrong with it. However, you did say it's been done to you a couple of times so I'd imagine you weren't injured after the first one.
Right? I imagine that even if a fist goes that deep there's still enough in between that it makes doing real permanent damage pretty difficult. Just a theory!
I have yet to be seriously injured being gut punched (knock on wood)
Has anyone ever gone this far? I know to make it possible, the punchee must have an empty stomach. However, I have heard it's possible even with a full stomach. How did it feel? Was it a good feeling that made you want more of those sort of deep punches, or was it horrible and made you request that they don't do it again?

I'd imagine it was his navel area, or just below the midsection.

I'd love to read some real experiences!
