The purpose of this research study is to gain insight into the motives and drivers of participation in masters sport, specifically masters boxing. Currently little is known as to why these athletes participate in sport and how that participation is driven by the athlete’s mental and physical states. This study is open to athletes 35 years and older who participate in recreational boxing and is primarily interested in athletes who have a passbook (if applicable). This study investigates the roles that physical self-concept and mental toughness play in masters boxing participation.
The study is being conducted by survey (approximately 22 questions) which will take about 20 minutes to complete. This study benefits master athletes and sport psychology practitioners who work with this athletes. The survey is located at:
You would be surprised at how many men and women like body contact sports and how many take up boxing just so the can be hit in the stomach I have been boxing since I was 13 I have trained, worked iut and sparred with men and women who all liked being punches in the stomach. All of the were into conditioning to make their stomach strong. I know several women who are big into being hit and who are turned on just like my male friends
