I'm rebooting this conversation because someone started it years ago and no one replied but I think it would be a fun one to have. The initial question was along the lines of what kind of bodyscissor is the tightest: front to back (guard), fig 4 (body triangle), side to side or back to front (rear mountish)?
Over the years I might have a different answer, that a guard or rear mount was the most uncomfortable and yielded the most submissions so of course it is the tightest... not necessarily. After doing bjj a back to front scissor has become a bad idea for the heel. I've always found the side to side scissor to be the most enjoyable but it also has the most limited range of motion on your legs and they are so straight that I don't think there is a lot of power to tap on that one. For a body triangle it really depends on who is putting it on. I've found that little guys with short legs have a stronger fig 4 than someone with long skinny legs because just closing the damn thing creates the power but I would love to test out a body builder with massive thighs because the girth would also help to bear down on you.
There is one scissor that I am afraid to try... although I did use it rolling once to the dismay of my opponent and that is the scorpion crunch. This one is a scissor from guard where you reach your arms around your legs and straighten them along with your legs. When I did it the guys ribs popped and he tapped in a heartbeat. The hold has been known to make people throw up and I don't think it's unreasonable to believe you can break bones with it.
I have run across the scorpion rib crush in bjj and if u do not posture up when in guard and the guy holding you in guard has long legs and knows how to set it up (he uses legs to pull u closer) u may get caught in it.If anyone is visiting Las Vegas and has long legs would be glad to show u how do apply it and other related moves
This move(scorpion crush) is highly effective for those with enough flexibility to apply it and can be very painful. When drilling it we advise our partners to let go slowly when we tap to avoid the extreme pain. If you have moderate to long legs and you like to play the guard, this is an excellent submission for you.

I have used this against bodybuilders, and it did make one throw up. It made all of them submit.

This Kansas City, MO area Jobber loves being in tight squeezes. Long lasting, can take all punishment, including the dirty and sadistic moves.

Looked up the scorpion crunch online. Looks like a tight scissors to be trapped in.
