I have always imagined taking a large college wrestling workout room. The rooms usually are already covered completely with a good mat surface. Now place some large vinyl covered item like you might find in a paint ball arena. One guys is placed at one end of the room and 3 guys at the opposite end. All combatants would only be able to wear shorts. There would be no striking just grappling. The object of the exercise would be for the one man to make his way to the opposite end of the room and out the door. The team of three or four would be defending the path to the door. All men would have to rely on their sense of hearing and smell to locate the and block the one man from getting through the room. When the Light goes out the game starts.
I had this experience twice in a very darkened room and it certainly increased the intensity of the match. Once the eyes adjusted to the dark, the blurred perception of the opponent and his facial expression was especially intense. The physical struggle and muscle contact, sweat, and heavy breathing were perceived on a whole different level given that the brain's usual preoccupation with visual stimuli was reduced.
Would especially enjoy having this experience again with the original poster of this question!
This sounds like a fun idea. You could also do handicapped matches where only one guy is blindfolded or one guy gets night vision goggles. Or you could have one of those programmable lightbulbs and have the light go on and off.
I agree!
Don’t want to end up too off topic, always thought how fun to being in position in a battle royal where one ends up fighting two people at once.
Wondering if anyone has ever had this type of match. if the room is totally dark, then locating your opponent by listening for his breathing is an option, i would guess? you could lash out wildly and hope you connect, i suppose, but so could the other guy. it sounds "semi'hot". the size of the room would drive a person's moves of course. or, plan b, you could be blindfolded.

Sounds like fun and I would love to do that. I already wrestle in the dark and have done so for years but the game element sounds exciting.

I like where your heads at with the blindfold idea. Sounds intense being so one sided and not knowing what’s coming.
