It was the golden age, i cannot be bothered with the soap opera that is WWE or even TNA has gone that way all the storylines, dont get me wrong rivalries etc are good but those are bred from matches won and lost not from teen drama problems lol

the english wrestling that goes on my channel is just as bad trying to emulate this and its almost a game of spot the intentional pause awaiting the next move.

If a promotion came out which had actual competitive pro wreslting with men in trunks and women in swimsuits, both in boots and pads in a ring, traditional style with a good stable of wreslters id pay good money to see it. the golden age had the level just right.

Rant over ;) going to find the show you mentioned

Bit harsh!

The world has changed in several important ways since those days. For a start, everyone now knows that pro wrestling is entertainment whereas in those days most people still believed the 'myth'. So there is no going back. There are several great promotions in the UK doing good shows which you could check out from IPW in the SE to UWE Megaslam in the North :)

Yes probably a bit harsh, IPW does look pretty good I just get fed up with all the obvious pretend drama and telegraphed moves but I do get the entertainment side of it just want to turn on the TV and watch good wrestling

The BBC is screening a documentary about the golden age of British wrestling on BBC4 at 9pm on Thursday 13th December 2012

The following is quoted from the Wrestling Heritage website:

"Throughout 2012, Wrestling Heritage has been sharing its extensive resources with BBC 4 with the sole aim of producing a television documentary that faithfully records the development of professional wrestling in Britain to the point that, through the sixties, it was the most popular indoor spectator sport in the country. Many of you will have seen documentaries and news items in recent years that consider only the later period that already constituted the decline of British wrestling. We are proud to have made this important impact time-wise.

Transmission of "Timeshift: Wrestling" is still some weeks away, but the hour-long documentary promises to be the most informative and comprehensive British Wrestling documentary yet made.

•The big news is that the tireless researchers at the BBC managed to track down the entire film of the 1962 epic between Jackie Pallo and Mick McManus. As a result, their long-running feud is covered in some detail and a major parallel feature will appear on Wrestling Heritage. •A new controversial double-cross is disclosed. •One of the popular mystery topics on the Talk Wrestling forum that has been on the go all year will enjoy some major new input. •There are interviews with celebrity fans, authors, promoters and popular sixties and seventies wrestlers including Johnny Kincaid and Adrian Street, as well as an appearance by Kendo Nagasaki.

We won't spoil your fun by telling you any more for now, but watch this space for further developments and picture previews, and all the news and reaction to this important event in the world of your Wrestling Heritage.
