I think people are all different.

But what's a fighting physique supposed to be? And what's it got to do with attending a fitness gym? The people I've trained and competed with over the years have been all sorts of different shapes and sizes. Some try to aim for a particular weight but I've not come across anyone chasing a particular "fighting/wrestling physique". Unless you're talking about something like Sumo?

I don't take pride in it yet but I think I'm on my way to that. It took a bit of thinking about what having that physique would mean for me and then making sure the reasons I wanted it (mostly aesthetics) were healthy reasons and not things like "people won't like me" or "I won't like me" or "Good things don't happen to people who don't look a certain way". Having done all that thinking and introspection, now I feel like I can do something long-term in a healthy way and that's great.

That said, physique isn't a major thing for me with people I meet up with either (aside the aesthetics and such); I wanna wrestle good people and if they're attractive, it's a bonus for me.

Yes, it definitely matters to me.

I have been quite overweight and worked hard to get into better shape for my health in general but wrestling is definitely an additional motivation to have the body in fighting form. I started mostly with swimming to help trim and tone, but now I am more focused on lifting weights to try and build up some muscle. I'm in the gym now 4 to 6 days a week.

During the Covid lockdowns my gym was basically closed for a year or more. I gained weight again and lost a lot of muscle definition. I tried home workouts.....just not the same as getting to the gym. But now that the gym is open again, I'm back at it to get back into fighting form. But I figure it will take another six months or so just to get back to where I was pre-covid.

Without a doubt, I will wrestle anybody who's not wildly out of my weight class..... but I have to admit that wrestling an opponent with a strong fit body adds something to the match. I figure most of my opponents like that too. So yeah, I want be healthy and fit for my own self, but I also want it for my opponents enjoyment as well.

I've got a ways to go but one day at a time.... I'll keep working at it!

Hey, guys. Hope everybody is Okay. I wanted to ask, so do you guys take pride in building a fighting/wrestling physique, did you just get it naturally training in your style, or does it not matter to you at all?

*I'm not asking this to offend anybody, this is a question everybody can answer. If you don't aim to sustain a fighting physique. And if you feel like it's going to be something that incites you, just ignore it for your own mental health. No sense is bashing one another.*
