I'm not a wrestler, but I box with a guy who is 73, looks like he 53. Like me he is in shape and has been boxing all his life. He and I are both very experienced boxers. Both former Golden Gloves. I have no problem stepping into the ring with him, because he is conditioned, works out, his body is tough enough to have a good time. Even at 73 he can take what he fails to block. When someone tells me that " Oh I don't want to wrestle with a guy in his 70's, because I might hurt him or cause him to have a stroke" My answer to him is,; actually maybe your little ego with be hurt if the 70 plus years old guys beats your ass and humiliates you. Your little ego wouldn't be able to stand it if a 74 yr old guy clobbered you. Think about this you guys.

You hit the nail on the head, Radner. ---- Reckon that is why so many under 40 are reticent to take on us 60-plus guys on. But I've had fun with all the guys in their 20s who have met up with me. Around the time of turning 75, I had the good luck of being able to take on four different guys in their low 20s, from this and two other sites. They were so respectful and full of energy – at the same time thought my age would give them easy wins. Glad to say all four accepted their losses gracefully. Plan to look for similar men come 76, 77, et seq., with a big bash when I turn 80.

But probably the most exhilarating experience I ever had was the recent college grad, on another site, who seemed so humble and eager to learn, pre match; but tried to pull out all the stops roughness wise when we met. Was worth putting an entry in my blog keeping his identity secret; as he was so easy to handle with nobody getting injured. I write him every three months or so to remind him he is welcome to return to pick up where we left off – as I have yet to meet up with any opponent from 18 to 81 with whom I would not gladly do an encore. – .

Depends why he's asking whether or not he's too old to wrestle. Maybe people are badgering him thinking of wrestling as what they see on TV, or out of jealousy they are not fit enough for it. OTOH, if his doctor is saying he should not do it, even then he should ask for details as to why, discuss with him or her the rationale (maybe MD has misconceptions), and if a reason is give, consult a medical specialist in the area of concern. Years alone should not be the sole or primary reason.

"Wrestling" comes in all intensities from a bit of rolling around to 'bang 'em, knock & throw 'em" Might be too old for the rougher things (can be so even for many of the young), while lighter forms still would life and health extending.

Been told that in my mid seventies too many times that I am too old for it. I tell them to get their asses down here in my mat room; and take me on.. So far, no takers, other than a couple who, so embarrassed at getting whipped, would not let it be known to the site we had the match. (See blog).

Wrestling is a perfect exercise working all your muscles – needed to forestall, even reverse ageing. Built tough; staying tough; becoming tougher --- Alive to thrive at Seventy-Five. Try me.

So long as you wrestle within your limits and ensure you wrestle guys who respect that then your age should not matter, just enjoy it..

No Pete you are not too old. As a matter of fact I prefer wrestling with other guys around my age and older, as we both realize we are not as spry as we once were, but can still have a good tangle on the mat. I have seen guys well into their 70s on here that are still wrestling and it makes me feel that I still have quite a few years to go before I have to hang up the speedos for good.

Hey Pete...no, you're not too old. Some guys won't be interested in 'seasoned' gents, but others will. As long as you are fit and healthy, and looking to have some fun with this, I think you'll be ok.

You are never too old!!! If you maintain your body and mind-aim for 80. You are only as old as you think you are-and I think I am 50!!!

The only people who can say Yes are you and your GP. Assuming that neither have, then the answer's No....
