What is WoS (Brit Pro) roleplay?

I am still being asked what WoS (Brit Pro) roleplay entails. Basically, it involves wearing pro gear, acting out your WoS fantasies as if you are in an actual bout, and applying holds in a safe, slow-placed, and non-competitive way.

1) You can wear trunks, tights, or a leotard, etc. You can use boots, or wrestle in socks or barefoot, etc.

2) You enter ring or step onto mats wearing entrance gear (or without it), and acknowledge the invisible audience if you so wish.

3) You and your opponent pretend to be introduced by an invisible MC. Your opponent could do the introduction for you (and vice versa), or you could use a recording containing intros. If you have someone to act as an MC, even better.

4) You and your opponent pretend to be spoken to by an invisible referee in the middle of the ring/mats. If you have someone to act as a referee, great! You then shake hands or not.

5) Before the match, you and your opponent decide on number of rounds, length of rounds, etc.

6) Before the match, you and your opponent decide who wins. The match could end up in a draw (or even a 0-0 draw much to the 'consternation' of the audience), or you could use dice on smartphone to determine who gains pinfall(s)/submission(s) in which round(s).

7) Before the match, you and your opponent decide whether to have timed rounds or a one long bout (like those in the US and Europe and elsewhere).

8) Between timed rounds, you towel and sip water. Ensure buckets, towels and bottled water are provided. If you have someone to act as a valet/second, excellent :-)

9) You and your opponent can take turns to apply holds, or dominate a round.

10) You use timer (there should be one on your smartphone) for timed rounds.

11) For audience sound effects, you may wish to put on wrestling on YouTube in the background. Or Spotify provides wrestling-crowd sounds.

12) Of course, roleplay means safe and non-competitive wrestling. But discuss with your opponent if you two wish to wrestle competitively instead, etc.

Some people probably scoff at this 'strange' activity, but for WoS or any vintage pro-wrestling aficionados, this is a safe, friendly, beautiful male-bonding experience which celebrates the beauty and the homoeroticism of pro wrestling. Also, it can be great exercise!

Happy roleplaying!

Fabulous post on what it means (for me, as an untrained ring performer) to make the most of a Pro Style match up.

Having grown up with WOS, your description brought back all those glorious memories of what got me hooked on pro wrestling so long ago.

Didn't know Spotify has a wrestling audience soundtrack. I'm off to check it out!

Happy wrestling to all.

Thank you Hertsbreaker for a perfect description of what is WOS(Brit Pro) role play and what it entails.
I’m a massive fan and always looking for guys with same interests who want to meet up, put the gear on and lace up their boots for an hour or two of escapist fun. Being able to try out holds and pins on each other and acting as if we’re in pain etc is a great turn on too. Hope more guys on here want this experience . Thank you so much for sharing.

This has cleared Brit Pro up for me massively. I've had a few guys contact me over the years asking if I'm into it and I had no idea what they were on about. Thanks, Hertsbreaker!

WoS wrestling.
Hertsbreaker has explained the rules etc very well. Perhaps I could add a few details about the background to it.
In the late 50's when I used to watch it, in the UK, we only had 2 TV channels. BBCtv &ITV - which in the part of the country where I lived was AngliaTV. Therefore Wrestling was very much a minority interest.
Saturday afternoon was devoted to sport on both channels. At 4.00pm, on ITV, while they were waiting for all the football results to come in so the fans could check their pools coupons to see if they had won a 'life-changing' amount, they filled the time with pre-recorded wrestling matches. The commentator was Kent Walton. He was British, but strangely acquired a 'mid-Atlantic' accent when talking about wrestling! For an impressionable young lad like myself, that was oh, so cool (or should I say very 'with it'. )
A few years later, 2 of my nephews 4 & 5 years old, joined me in watching it. They would re-enact 'The Game', as they called it. The would stand at opposite ends of the room, take a swig from an imaginary bottle, spit into an imaginary bucket & try to copy some of the wrestlers' moves. This caused much amusement to myself & my uncle as we watched them!!

The fact is that Wos is the best wrestling going now and in the past. Definitely, my favorite.

Fascinating and very informative post, Hertsbreaker. Thanks for posting.

I think WoS was the best wrestling entertainment on British television, with the guys showing some impressive wrestling skills as well as sheer strength.

I, like lots on here, grew up with it too being a 60s born kid. Loved it every Saturday afternoon and in the last 30 plus years of being online it has and still is my favourite form of Roleplay. From the specific rules that you don’t see in other pro wrestling to the grunting and groaning and counts of “1-aah, 2-aah” or “ask him ref, ask him”. I’ve even had the joy of re-enacting it on a few occasions in a proper ring in all the gear albeit against a semi pro lady wrestler. You can’t beat it IMHO.
